ALICE MARIE SEARS,
age 90, of formerly Midline Road, Freeville, NY passed away Friday, August 13, 2010 at Cayuga Ridge Nursing Facility. Born Nov. 3, 1919 in Pine City, NY, Alice was a daughter of the late Raymond and Eva Smith Canfield. A lifelong area resident, Alice was a long time resident of Midline Road and formerly had lived in Newfield and Varna. Her husband, William Henry Sears, died Feb. 25, 1999. She had been employed for 26 years at Cornell University and retired in 1998. Alice was a wonderful mother and grandmother who will be missed by her family, neighbors and friends.

Survivors include her children, Raymond W. Sears of Dryden and Mary Kenyon of Brooktondale; a step-brother, Clyde Snowberger of Groton; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Donald Sears, her son-in-law, Glenn Kenyon, her daughter-in-law, Ellen Christofferson Sears and a brother, Lester Canfield.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday, August 16, 2010 at the Perkins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 12 to 2 PM Monday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Memorials in Alice’s name may be sent to the Dryden Veterans Memorial Home, 2261 Dryden Road, Dryden, NY 13053.
