Allen Baker Schenck, almost 92 years old, died peacefully Sunday night December 17, 2023 of old age.
Allen was born in Auburn, N.Y. on January 25, 1932, the only child of Lee and Mildred Schenck. Allen graduated from Union Springs Central school in 1950. He joined the Navy in 1950 and served proudly on the USS Missouri. On December 26,1953, he married Jane Roarke from Union Springs. They resided in Norfolk, Virginia until after the birth of their first child Sharon, born 1956. They then moved to Ithaca where Allen attended Ithaca College.
In 1961 Allen and Jane moved to Dryden where he began working at the First National Bank of Dryden in 1960. Allen retired from the bank in 1997 after proudly working there for 37 years.
One of his favorite pastimes was being in the Dryden Footlighters.
Allen enjoyed travelling and went on many cruises to Hawaii, the Panama Canal, the New England coast and Fanning Island.
Allen’s favorite thing to do was taking several trips to Norway to visit his daughter and grandsons and great grandson and going to Colorado to visit Mark. Allen had many wonderful times in the Adirondacks visiting with family.
Allen is survived by his wife of 70 years, Jane; daughter Sharon (Kurt) Gramstad, son Mark Schenck from Colorado, Jeff (Kim) Schenck of Dryden; grandsons Eric, Karl, Bryan, John, Ethan, and Elim; his only granddaughter Suzie; great grandchildren Samuel, Grayson, Addy, Maci, Colin, and Tessa.
Dad and grandpa will be missed greatly.
Services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, December 30, 2023 in the First Presbyterian Church of Dryden, 8 North St., Dryden, NY. Online condolences at www.perkinsfh.com
