ARLENE BETTY MERCHANT, age 63, of 355 Creamery Road, Harford, NY passed away Friday, January 30, 2015 at her home.
Born October 29, 1951 in Ithaca, NY she was a daughter of Barbara Bickham Nemecek and the late Thomas Nemecek. On May 28, 1977 she married George H. Merchant at Marathon, NY. She had been employed as a cook with Brown Beaver Inn in Willet, NY.
Arlene is survived by her husband, George at home; her children, James Homza, Michael (Nita Slack)Homza, Melissa McUmber and Michelle (Carl) Guild, Bobbie Jo (Steve) Warner, Robert (Stacy)Merchant and Jody (Lisa Muench)Merchant; grandchildren, Rachael Homza, Tori Homza, Gracie Jo Homza, Brittany Barkman, Brandon Homza, Nicholas Homza, Adrienne Homza, Carlecia McUmber,Christian McUmber, Dana Guild and Aleice Guild, Tony (Liz)Merchant, Heather Merchant, Katie Becker, Brittney (Nate) Sutherland, Joshua Merchant, Avery Merchant and Cole Merchant; two great grandchildren, Isaiah Barkman and Elena Elizabeth Northrup; brother, Martin (Rose) Nemecek; sisters, Dorothy (Robert) Duff, Patricia (Alan “Spike”) Simon and Carol (Wyatt) Rozboril; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, Arlene was predeceased by her brothers, Robert, Donnie and Tom, Jr. Nemecek and sister, Eileen Lukosavich.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, February 4, 2015 in Calvary Baptist Church, Harford, NY with Pastor Jim Owens officiating. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, PO Box 8, Harford, NY 13784.
