ARTHUR H. VOLBRECHT, Jr.,
age 89, formerly of Brooktondale, NY died Monday, January 4, 2010 at the Groton Nursing Facility after a lengthy illness. Born March 9, 1920 in North Lansing, NY, Art was a son of the late Arthur and Eva Keener Volbrecht. Art served in the US Army during World War II and retired from Morse-Chain after 42 years employment. A member of the Caroline Lodge #631, F.&A.M. , he also belonged to several antique car clubs and enjoyed woodworking and cabinet making. He was the proud owner of an AACA Grand National Prize Winning 1912 Ford Model T and a 1925 Ford Model T.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Tucker Volbrecht of Ithaca; his son, Ronald (Judy) Volbrecht of Melbourne, FL ; a daughter, Lois (Michael) Ocello of Ithaca; brothers, Calvin and Marshall Volbrecht; grandchildren, Bucky Crooks, Wendy Carvalho and Zakk Volbrect; a great-granddaughter, Jessie Crooks; nieces, nephews and cousins. One of twelve children, Art was predeceased by nine siblings.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in Quick Cemetery, Brooktondale. Perkins Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.
