AUDREY JEAN CHAFFEE, age 71, of 231 Durfee Hill Road, Ithaca, NY passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at the Hospicare Residence in Ithaca, NY. Audrey was born January 22, 1940, in Ithaca, a daughter of the late Paul V. and Estelle M. Rightmire Drake. She had been a life resident of Tompkins County and on November 15, 1958 she was married to William Addison Chaffee, Jr. who passed away August 6, 1993. Audrey was retired from the Cornell University Print Shop. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling to the Thousand Islands, dancing, roller skating and her flower gardens.
Survivors include her children, William P. (Colleen) Chaffee of Van Etten, NY and Linda Chaffee of Cincinnati, Ohio; three grandchildren, William A. Chaffee of Waverly, NY, Sean R. (Stacy) Chaffee of Greenwell Springs, LA and Roberta F. Chaffee of Watertown, NY; eight great-grandchildren; close friends and extended family members including sisters-in-law, Nancy (Raymond) Bollock, Verna (Robert) Turk and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, Donald and David Drake.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the Perkins Funeral Home. Burial, delayed, will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Newfield, NY.
