Barbara J. Alm

BARBARA J. ALM, age 58, of Budzinski Road, Dryden, NY passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at
University Hospital, Syracuse after a short battle
with lung cancer. Barb was born May 28, 1956 in Buffalo, NY, a daughter of the late Robert and
Alberta Goldsmith Lee. Barb was graduated from Hamburg High School and earned her teaching
degree and Masters in Education at SUNY Cortland. Barb was married on February 23, 1985 to Bernard
Alm in Cortland.

Barb was employed at North East Elementary School as a First Grade Teacher and previously had taught Kindergarten. Barb attended Holy Cross Church with her husband. Barb was a recently retired Jazzercise Instructor and enjoyed being with family and friends. She was a generous, loyal, caring, loving, wisdom sharing, dedicated and kind wife, mother, Grammie and friend. She enjoyed life, laughter and had a great sense of humor. Barb enjoyed traveling with her husband, reading good books, golfing when the weather was perfect, and sipping cocktails in the sun by the pool. She was always extremely proud of her children and was their greatest advocate and confidant.

Survivors include her loving husband of 30 years, Bernie Alm of Dryden; her children, Mary Kathryn Alm of Dryden, Matthew (Samantha Perkins) Alm of Dryden and Eric (Shannon) Alm of Cortland; her grandchildren, Aiden, Owen, Ethan Alm of Cortland; her siblings, Robert (Kathy) Lee, Jeffrey (Lyss) Lee; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many close friends. She was predeceased by her parents, sister and brother-in-law, Deborah (John) Lee Kahabka.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 16th at Holy Cross Church, 375 George Rd., Freeville, NY. Burial, delayed due to weather, will be in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Sunday at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Those wishing to remember Barb are asked to consider a memorial gift, in lieu of flowers, to the Barbie’s Angels Relay for Life Team, .
