BARBARA A. ESTELLE, age 85, of 755 Bowling Green, Cortland, NY and formerly of Dryden and Freeville, NY passed away January 16, 2007 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Mrs. Estelle was born July 25, 1921 at Candor, NY, a daughter of the late Melvin and Estella Van de Bogart Personeus. She was graduated from Candor High School in 1939 and received her NYS Beautician’s Licence after studying at Binghamton. She was a member of the McLean Community Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, being a dual member of Magnetic Springs Chapter and Dryden Chapter. Barb was a Past Matron of both chapters and was a O.E.S. Grand Representative to Rhode Island.

Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, Gerald Estelle of Cortland; her son, Michael (Sonja Howser) of Freeville; a son-in-law, Robert Denson of Dresden; a daughter-in-law, Lorraine Estelle of North Port, FL; a sister, Irene Craig of Candor; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Chandler of Waverly; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a special friend, Monica Magee of Dryden; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Pauline Strong and Genevieve Personeus and her daughter, Maxine Denson.

A celebration of Mrs. Estelle’s life will begin at 3 PM Sunday, January 21th, 2007 at the Perkins Funeral Home. Rev. Leslie A. Smith of the McLean Community Church will officiate. Friends are invited to call from 1 to 3 PM Sunday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Members of the Order of the Eastern Star will conduct services at 3 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be later in Maple Grove Cemetery, Candor. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
