Barry Werninck, 79, formally of Freeville, passed away on August 22, 2018 at his home in Columbia SC. Barry was the son of the late Lionel and Ella Bloom Werninck.
Barry lived in Freeville nearly all his life. He was an honors graduate of the Dryden Central School system and received his BA degree from Cornell in 1960. He was an avid reader, had a special passion for old movies and enjoyed listening to most forms of music. He was, as well, an accomplished pianist. Barry was retired from his long tenure as co-owner of L. Werninck & Sons with stores in Freeville and Cortland.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister Joyce Werninck Marquis.
Barry is survived by his brothers, Lionel R. (Barbara), Keith B. (Connie), Kirby K. (Gloria); a brother in law, Ken Marquis; several nieces and nephews.
Interment will take place in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden, at the convenience of the family. Perkins Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
