BEATRICE M. SPONAUGLE,
age 89, of 355 Creamery Road, Harford and formerly of Freeville and Cortland, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at home. Mrs. Sponaugle was born Oct. 29, 1919 in Richmovnd, VA a daughter of the late Joseph and Evelyn Hart Marion. She was raised and educated in Richmond and on June 26, 1941 was married to Denby Sponaugle in Freeville. Mr. & Mrs Sponaugle resided in Freeville for 35 years before relocating to Stupke Road, Cortland where they made their home until 2007. She was employed at George Junior Republic for 27 years. Beatrice was a member of the United Methodist Church of Freeville where she had been a Sunday School Teacher for 7 years. Beatrice was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Denby at home, her son, Larry (Jane) Sponaugle of Dryden; her daughter, Peggy (Ernest) Zierler of Zephyrhills, FL; grandchildren, Randy Sponaugle, Teresa Lovelace, Mark Leonard and Matthew Karschner; great-grandchildren, Lexie Lovelace, Monica Leonard, Nicholas Leonard, Jade Karschner, Shyanne Lovelace and Blake Sponaugle; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 PM Friday, April17, 2009 at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden with Rev. Dale Austin officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery, Dryden. There are no calling hours.
