BLANCHE POND SPRY, age 82, of E. Malloryville Road, Freeville, NY passed away Monday, December 9, 2013 after becoming ill earlier in the day. Mrs. Spry was born Sept. 18, 1931 in Cortland, a daughter of the late Tyler and Elsie Cole Pond. She was graduated from Virgil High School in 1949 and has been a life area resident. Blanche was a member of the Hudson-Fulton-Dryden Chapter #250, O.E.S. and the Grange. She was employed for many years as a Clerk/Typist at SUNY Cortland and had previously worked at Carters Dept. Store in Dryden.
On Aug. 10, 1966 she was married to Robert Spry. For several years Bob & Blanche enjoyed their winters in Umatilla, FL. Blanche was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend to many who will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her husband, Robert E. Spry of Freeville , her sons, Douglas (Karen), Dale (Jean), Dennis and Bradley Cotterill all of Dryden; her sisters, Lucy (Richard) Jacobs of Cortland and Sandra (Douglas) Goodale of Raleigh, NC; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter and many nieces, nephews and cousins.. She was predeceased by a son, Stephen Cotterill; a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley (George) Foster; a daughter-in-law, Katheryn Cotterill; two step-sons, David and Robert Spry, a daughter-in-law, Yvonne Spry and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. David C. Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Virgil Rural Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 PM, Thursday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Members of the O.E.S. will conduct services at 6:45 PM, Thursday.
