Bonnie Bun Bun Whittaker

Bonnie Leigh Whittaker, 81, of Brooktondale, NY passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, December 19, 2024.

Bonnie, affectionately known as Bun Bun, was born on July 4, 1943 to Glenn and Doris Whittaker of Brooktondale, NY. Growing up, she worked with her family on Whittaker Brothers dairy farm. Later, Bonnie lived at Fountain Manor in Slaterville for many years and her sisters Kelly, Kathy and Janet took loving care of her throughout her lifetime. After becoming ill and a brief stay at Cayuga Medical, she became a resident of Oak Hill Manor in Ithaca, NY for over a year. She was lovingly taken care of by her nurses, aides and staff for which we are thankful and will be forever grateful. She was smart, witty, a historian and loved to tell a joke daily. She knew everyone’s birthday in town and was a sweet, kind, loving friend and sister who will be dearly missed.

Bonnie is survived by her brother, Jack (Sandy) Whittaker of Ithaca; sisters, Gail (Tom) Martin of Clovis, New Mexico, Kathy Parker of Slaterville, Kelly (Herb) Parker of Brooktondale, and Janet (Gordie) Nash of Slaterville; sisters in law, Mary Whittaker and Cindy Whittaker; many nieces and nephews. In addition, Bonnie is predeceased by her parents, Glenn and Doris Whittaker; her brothers, Tracey Whittaker and Scott Whittaker; brother in law, David Parker and her aunt, Beverly Keane who she adored and was like a sister to her.

A celebration of Bonnie’s life is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Perkins Funeral Home is assisting the family. www.perkinsfh.com
