Birl R. Cooper, age 76, of Bone Plain Road, Freeville, NY passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at home.
Born June 4, 1939 in the Town of Dryden, he was one of nine children born to the late John and Florence Hamilton Cooper. He was a US Army veteran and was retired from Borg Warner in Ithaca.
Birl is survived by his children, Melissa (John) Gibson of Dundee, NY, Michael (Jennifer) Cooper of Freeville, NY, and Albert (Christine) Cooper of Groton, NY; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Zachary Cooper, Crystal, Cathleen and Kenneth Cooper, Courtney and Patrick Gibson; great grandchildren, Bently Cooper and Zoey Brown; siblings, George, Albert, John and Peter Cooper, Mable Tarbox and Clara Allen; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his infant son, Birl R. Cooper II, his brother Frank Cooper and sister, Jesse Cooper.
Friends are invited to a celebration of his life from 1 – 4 pm on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Dryden Fire Station. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital, One Children’s Circle, Syracuse, NY 13210. Perkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
