C. George Hanford

C. GEORGE HANFORD, age 81, formerly of Dryden, NY died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006 at the Groton Nursing Facility. Mr. Hanford was born January 28, 1925 in Ithaca, a son of the late Harold and Ida Townley Hanford. George was valedictorian of the Dryden High School Class of 1941. George along with his wife, Ruth, operated a dairy farm on Simms Hill Rd. in Dryden for many years. He also was self employed licensed land surveyor and was a long time member of the Board of Directors of Willow Glen Cemetery. He was a member of the Dryden Grange and a former member of the Town of Dryden Planning Board.

George was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Ruth Cottrell Hanford, on December 3, 2006 and is survived by his children, Harold L. Hanford of Bath, NY, Marcia H. (Warren) Wentworth of King Ferry and Keith E. (Pat) Hanford of Macedon, NY; seven grandchildren, Paul Hanford, A.J. Humphrey, Beth (Tim) Myer, Jeff (Shannon) Humphrey, Scott (Mandy) Hanford, Kim Hanford and Leslie Hanford; four great-grandchildren; Kennedy and Owen Humphrey, Caedance Myer and Noah Hanford; a sister, Ruth (Bill) Slaight of Dansville, NY; a sister-in-law, Arlene Hanford of Cortland and several nieces; nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, George was predeceased by his brother, Ernest Hanford.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Arthur Barry officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Memorials are graciously directed to the National Parkinson Foundation, P.O.
