CARMELA FRANCES DiMATTEO,
On December 6th at 1:50 p.m., Carmela DiMatteo, age 87, departed this life and went to her heavenly reward. She moved to be with her son and his wife in Dryden, N.Y. in May of 2002, two years later entered the Groton Nursing Facility with the diagnosis of Alzheimer's. She was treated with the love and care afforded to royalty by the loving staff of CNAs, nurses, and various therapy departments. Carmela is predeceased by her husband of 27 years, Alexander Di Matteo Sr., her sister Amelia Grippa and brother Erminio Grippa. She is survived by her son, Alex DiMatteo and his wife, Anna, their two children, Michele Anderson and husband Christian, and Daniel DiMatteo. She is also survived by her sisters, Josephine Tambini, Celeste Villani, and Olympia Gigante.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Thursday, Dec. 9 at the Perkins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. The viewing will be held Wednesday from 7 to 9 PM at the funeral home, 55 West Main St, Dryden, N.Y.
