Carol E. Warren

Carol E. Warren, 95, passed away August 26, 2016, in Geneva, NY. Carol was born July 15, 1921, in Virgil, NY, on the Olmsted family farm. She began her education in a one-room schoolhouse, and then went on to graduate from Virgil High School and Cortland State Teachers College.

Carol married Nelson W. Warren in 1944 and began her elementary school teaching career in Nichols, NY. After Nelson's return from WWII they settled in Cortland, NY, and their daughter Gail was born. Nelson was then transferred to Geneva, where their son Lyle was born.

Carol served as President of the Geneva PTA, and as a 4-H leader. She loved teaching and worked as a substitute teacher for some years before enjoying fifteen years of teaching third grade at West Street Elementary School. During retirement, Carol was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and the Geneva Historical Society. She was also an active member of the Geneva Woman's Club and the Presbyterian Women's Circle.

Carol was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Nelson W. Warren; parents Wilna and Hayden Olmsted; brother and sister-in-law Dale and Marie Olmsted.

Carol is survived by her daughter Gail (Robert) Bruckner of Geneva; son Lyle (Nina) Warren of Churchville, NY; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three nephews and a niece.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Living Centers at Geneva-North and South for their fine and compassionate care.

Burial will be in Virgil Rural Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service which will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at The Presbyterian Church in Geneva, 24 Park Place, Geneva, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol's memory may be made to the Geneva Woman's Club or The Presbyterian Church in Geneva.
