Charles Henry Barned

Charles Henry Barned passed away peacefully with his wife and son by his side on June 30, 2021.  He was born in Cortland, NY on June 22, 1938 to Warren and Margaret Barned.

Charlie worked for Smith Corona in Cortland for 37 years but will be most remembered for his fierce love of family, card playing skills, and commitment to finding a good deal.  He and Alice loved to travel by car and, in retirement, drove thousands of miles across the country and made countless trips to see their granddaughters in both Texas and Ohio.

Charlie is survived by his best friend and wife of 62 years, Alice; son, David (Laura); granddaughters, Emma and Clara; brother-in-law, William Payne (Pat); sister-in-law, Emma Kaiser (Danny); and many beloved nephews and nieces.

Perkins Funeral Home in Dryden will host calling hours from 4 to 6 pm with a brief memorial service starting at 6 pm on Friday, July 9, 2021.  In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to a charity of your choice.
