Charles K. Canfield

HARFORD MILLS – Charles K. Canfield, age 88 of Harford Mills, NY passed away Friday, December 31, 2021 at the Hospicare Residence in Ithaca, NY.

Born at home on November 13, 1933 in Harford Mills, NY he was the son of the late Claude and Evelyn Horton Canfield. Charlie was a lifelong farmer who loved his John Deere tractors. He was a Korean War Veteran serving from 1953 – 1956. He was employed with Gutchess Lumber for 48 years and was a member of the Weekend Wanderers Camping Club and the Harford Fire Department.

Charlie is predeceased by his wife, Doris Lighthall Canfield; daughters, Debra Spencer and Donna Ellsworth; brothers, Claude, Ralph, Robert and Claire; and sister, Ruth Evener. He is survived by his sons, David (Sharon) Canfield of Harford, NY and Dennis (Candace) Canfield of Moravia, NY; daughter, Dot (Rick) Hall of Fayetteville, NY; 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call from 10 am -12 pm, Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY followed by a service with military honors at 12 pm. Burial will follow at Parker Street Cemetery, Lapeer, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dryden Ambulance or Harford Fire Dept.
