CHARLES CURTISS McNEAL, age 63, of 491 Wood Road, Freeville, NY died Saturday, October 30, 2004 at the Hospicare Residence after a lengthy illness. Mr. McNeal was born in Ithaca, NY on December 9, 1940, the son of Charles and Beatrice Sprague McNeal. "Chuck" was graduated from Ithaca High School in 1958. In 1971 he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy, Cum Laude, from SUNY Cortland. On July 30, 1960 he was married to the former Marna Dawn Lovejoy at Caroline Center. The McNeal’s lived in Ithaca and later in Dryden before relocating to Freeville. Chuck was employed by NYSEG and later was the proprietor of Home Owners Electric before going to work at Cornell University, Wilson Laboratory, retiring in 2002. Chuck served on the Dryden Village Board of

Trustees and was formerly a member of the Dryden Fire Dept. He was a wonderful husband and father who will be greatly missed by family friends and fellow tradesmen. He enjoyed fishing with his lifelong friend Bob Pierce and later took up painting in his spare time.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Marna D. McNeal of Freeville, his sons, Brian "Casey" (Suzy Kille) McNeal of Johnson City, NY, Shawn R. (Anie Yousefian) of Burbank, CA and Charles Partick (Deborah) McNeal of Richmond, VA; a granddaughter, Lindsey McNeal; sisters, Alameda "Midge" (John) Cole of Decherd, TN, Laura (Norman) Mainville of Freeville, Helen Eaton of Elmira and Mary (Jack) Holbert of North Port, AL; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Florence.

Memorial services will be held at 11 AM Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Rev. Richard Welch and Mr. Mike Ray will officiate. Friends are invited to a reception at the Dryden Fire Station 26, North Street, Dryden after the memorial service.
