Charles Clyde “Charlie” Snowberger Sr.,
72, passed away Monday afternoon, April 5, 2010, at Rowan Regional Medical Center, after two weeks of serious illness.
Born June 5, 1937 in Lemont, Pa. He was the son of the late Clyde Edgar and Zipporah Ann Williams Snowberger. In 1945, the family moved to Etna, NY, where he graduated from Dryden High School. He worked as Director of Personnel at Smith-Corona in Cortland, NY for 25 years. Then in 1987, he moved to N.C. and worked for Service Master until his retirement in 1994.
A member of Grace Lutheran Church in Salisbury, he loved to play golf with Mary as his caddy, and collected golf balls.
Charlie was preceded in death by his first wife Sandra J. Alcott on November 11, 1989, whom he married December 1, 1956.Survivors include his wife, Mary (Bost) Benfield Snowberger, whom he married on June 11, 1994, Son, Charles Jr. & wife Kathryn (Saylor) of Etna, NY, Daughter, Sherri J. and husband Marcelo Fuentes and sons Marc and Cory of Cumming, Ga., Son, Randy Snowberger and fiancée, Crystal Rinehart and sons Kaleb and Nathan of China Grove, Daughter, Wendy and husband Curtis Kesler of Salisbury, Step-son, Danny Benfield and his daughter, Lindsay of China Grove, Step-daughter, Marsha (Benfield) & husband Tim Hartzoge of China Grove, Step-son, Perry Benfield & wife Michelle (Kerr) and their daughter Layla of Salisbury, 3 Brothers, Jim, John, & Gene Snowberger of NY. 1 Sister, Linda and husband Joseph Rhodes of MD.
VISITATION: 6-8 PM, Wednesday at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home China Grove
SERVICE: 11:00 AM, Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church conducted by the Revs. Jerome Cloninger, Gene Bost , and Floyd Bost. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Park in Concord.
