CHERYL ANN DARLING
, age 62, of 2314 Hanshaw Rd., Freeville, NY passed away Friday, March 16th, 2007 at the Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca, NY after a brief illness. Mrs. Darling was born in Little Falls, NY on July 8th, 1944 a daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy Volk Ives. She was raised in Salisbury, NY and was graduated from Dolgeville High School and later graduated from SUNY Morrisville and Tompkins Cortland Community College. She has been a Freeville and Dryden area resident for more than 30 years. Cheryl was employed at Cornell Finger Lakes Credit Union in Support Services. Previously she had been employed First Federal Saving and Loan and years ago was employed in Washington, DC with the Internal Revenue Service. On Oct. 7th, 1995 she was married to Arch B. Darling. Cheryl is a member of the Dryden United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. She had served on the Worship Committee and as a Sunday School Teacher.
Survivors include her husband, Arch B. Darling of Freeville, her children, Heather (James) Rothwell of Litza, PA, Shannon (Bill) Merrill of Cortland and John (Karen) Darling of Interlaken; a brother, Frederick (Betty Lou) Ives of Little Falls, NY; seven grandchildren; several aunts and uncles including Helen Ives of Salisbury and Cornelia Howard of Dolgeville; nieces; nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 11 AM Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at the Dryden United Methodist Church with Rev. Alan Kinney officiating. Burial, delayed until weather permits, will be in Salisbury Rural Cemetery, Salisbury, NY. Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Tuesday at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY 13053. Memorials are graciously directed to the Dryden United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 193, Dryden, NY 13053-0193.
