CHRISTOPHER WILLIAM ACKLEY, age 18, of Highland Crescent, Dryden, NY died Tuesday, June 14, 2005 as the result of a one car accident on East Lake Road in the Town of Dryden. "Chris" was born March 23, 1987 in Rochester, NY and has been a resident of Dryden all his life. He was completing his junior year of studies at Dryden High School and was studying in the TST BOCES Heavy Equipment Program. Chris was Co-Captain of the 2004-2005 High School Boys Swim Team and was an IAC All-Star Athlete. In 2004 he earned the Rank of Eagle Scout in Troop 24 and his Bronze Palm in 2005. Chris enjoyed bicycling, camping, hiking, NASCAR races, being a Jeff Gordon fan, and mowing lawns for family and friends. He was a fan of the New York Yankees, the Green Bay Packers and the Syracuse Orangemen. Chris had participated in Dryden Footlighters theatrical productions. He was a communicant of Holy Cross Church and had received the "Hands of Christ Award" from the Diocese of Rochester. At school, at church and in the Dryden community he was well known, liked by all and involved in many activities. Chris had a heart of gold and was always thinking of the other guy.

Survivors include his parents, Allen and Patricia Hogan Ackley of Dryden; his grandparents, Katherine Ackley of Dryden and Edward and Hilde Hogan of Tinton Falls, NJ; and uncle and aunt, Edward and "Lou" Hogan; cousins, Laurie, Edward and Jeffrey Hogan all of Westfield, NJ; great-aunts, Helen, Sophie, Rose and Laura. Many second and third cousins also survive. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Leonard Ackley.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Saturday, June 18, 2005 at Holy Cross Church, 375 George Road, Freeville, NY. Friends are invited to call from 4 to 9 PM Friday at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Friends are asked to consider a memorial, in lieu of flowers, to the Chris Ackley Scholarship Fund, c/o Tina Hollenbeck, Dryden Central School District Office, P.O. Box 88, Dryden, NY 13053-0088.
