Clair E. Canfield Jr.

CLAIR E. CANFIELD, Jr., age 54, of Rt 221, Marathon, NY died Friday, May 19, 2006 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center, Emergency Room. Clair was born December 6, 1951 at Cortland, NY and was graduated from Marathon High School. A lifetime area resident, he was employed at RMS Gravel in Freeville and previously had been employed by Gutchess Lumber, Empire Livestock and Case Trucking. Clair was a loyal family member and an avid NASCAR fan.

Survivors include his aunt with whom he resided, Evelyn "Betty" Fritz of Marathon, his father, Clair E. (Gladys) Canfield of Harford; his siblings, Raymond (Dora) Canfield of Charlotte, NC, Susan Canfield of Florida, Larry (Jane) Canfield of Richford and Regina Canfield of Cortland; a brother-in-law, Gary Allen of Harford. Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. His mother, Louise Bevis Canfield and a sister, Evelyn Allen, predeceased him.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. James Willard officiating. Burial will be private in Highland Cemetery, Richford, NY. Friends are invited to call from 7 to 9 PM Monday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Memorials are graciously directed to the Dryden Ambulance Fund, P.O.
