CLAYTON B. GOODBAND,
57 of 38 Flat Iron Rd., Brooktondale, NY died Thursday, July 7, 2005 at University Hospital, Syracuse, NY as the result of an automobile accident. Clayton, known as "Mike", was born June 14, 1948 at Ithaca a son of Albert D. Goodband of Brooktondale and the late Eleanor H. Hotaling Goodband. Mike served honorably in the Vietnam War with the US Marines May 1968 to June 1969 and was decorated with several awards and decorations including the Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars. He served in the Army reserves until March 28, 1993. He was
employed at the Syracuse Regional Veterans Administration Hospital in Syracuse as a medical clerk for the last 12 years. His family is grateful for the support of his Syracuse VA family. He was a member of the NRA and was a member of the American Legion. Mike was an avid hunter and NASCAR race fan who enjoyed writing poetry, gardening, camping and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Doris Boynton Goodband of Brooktondale; his children, C. Barry (Brandy Niver) Goodband, Jr. of Freeville and Chrystal "Gidget" Goodband of Brooktondale; brothers, Earl "Ike" (JoAnn) Thomas of Richford, NY and Kent "K.C." Thomas of Ithaca; granddaughters, Taylor C. Thompson and Morgan E. Goodband; aunts; uncles, nieces; nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Wilson Kone officiating. Burial will be in Caroline Grove Cemetery, Brooktondale with military honors. Friends are invited to call from 12 to 2 PM Wednesday at the funeral home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY. Memorials are directed to the Slaterville Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 193, Slaterville Springs, NY.
