CLINTON EDWARD COTTERILL, age 88, of Orion Drive, Dryden, NY passed away Friday, August 7th, 2015 at the Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca after a brief period of declining health. "Clint" was born October 27th, 1926 at Dryden, a son of the late Ernest R. and Carrie Schutt Cotterill and was a life time area resident.

He was graduated from Dryden High School in 1944 and began employment with his father and brothers as E.R. Cotterill and Sons, a dairy farm that was operated on George Road in Dryden and later at the Cotterill Lane/Daisy Hollow Road area in the Town of Harford. Together they developed the Cotterdale line of Registered Holsteins. Later he was a Computer Programmer for Dairy Records at Cornell University. Clint was also well known as a home developer having developed Crystal Drive, South Knoll Drive, Catherine Drive and Orion Drive in the Town of Dryden. He served for 10 years as a Town of Dryden Councilman and 10 years as Town Supervisor. Clint also served on the Bolton Point Water Board and the Committee to build the Ithaca Area Wastewater Treatment Facility. A member of Dryden Lodge #472 F.&A.M. since 1948 and Master in 1955, he was also a member of Dryden Chapter #250, Order of the Eastern Star. Clinton served as Patron in 1953 when his mother was Matron and was appointed as an Assistant Grand Lecturer of the Cayuga-Tompkins District of the O.E.S. Clint served for 45 years as a Director of the Willow Glen Cemetery and has been a member of the Dryden Fire Department since 1968 serving as a Fireman, Fire Policeman and an Ambulance EMT. He was a former member of the Dryden Kiwanis Club and the Dryden Footlighters. A tireless and generous community member and public servant, Clint will be missed by his loving family and the community which he served.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth “Jean” Warmbrodt Cotterill; his sons, Douglas (Karen), Dale (Jean) of Dryden and Bradley T. Cotterill of Freeville; step-children, Michael Dawson, Catherine Stevens, Joan Howser, James (Mary), David (Lisa) and Gregory (Tamara) Warmbrodt; many grand and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins and extended family members of the Cotterill, Dawson and Warmbrodt families. He was predeceased by sons, Stephen and Dennis; his wife, Leona Dawson Cotterill; his brothers, Lewis, Lloyd and Clyde; a daughter-in-law, Katheryn Cotterill and a step-daughter, Crystal Clift and his former wife, Blanche Pond Cotterill Spry.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Wednesday, August 12 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. David C. Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden where members of Dryden Lodge will conduct Masonic Services at 6:45PM. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, are directed to The Dryden Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 397, Dryden, NY 13053-0397.
