CLYDE M. BOWER,
age 90, of Bell Lane, McLean, NY passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center.
Born March 12, 1921 in Ludlowville, NY, he was a son of the late Fred and Clara Swayze Bower and husband of the late Lillian Scutt Bower who died in 2001. A US Army Veteran of WW II, Clyde had been employed with Cayuga Rock Salt in Lansing and later was a truck driver with Red Star Express Line out of Buffalo and was a Village of Corfu Police Officer.
Clyde is survived by his stepsons, John B. Griffin, Jr. of Cortland, NY, Timothy C. (Carol W. Click) Griffin of McLean, NY, Patrick L. (Paula Ann) Griffin, Sr. of Groton, NY; grandchildren, Penny Griffin Crandall, Trina Griffin, Michelle (Shane) Townsend, David Griffin, Chris (Julie) Griffin, Steven (Julie) Griffin, Brian (Kathleen Kelley) Griffin and Stacy (Scott Alexander) Mertz; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by a granddaughter in law, Michelle M. Griffin of Florida. He was predeceased by his parents; siblings, Stanley Bower, Kenneth Bower, Anna Inman, Florence Ellis and Freida Albanese; grandson, Staff Sgt. Patrick L. Griffin, Jr., killed May 3, 2003 in Iraq, and grandson in law, Robert C. Crandall, III in 1997.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY with Rev. David Nicholls officiating. Burial will follow at Groton Rural Cemetery. Friends may call from 12 – 2 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. www.perkinsfuneralhome.com
