Cornel Lewis Lamey

Cornel L. Lamey, 75 of Groton, NY passed away Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Upstate Community Hospital in Syracuse, NY.

Born July 24, 1947 in Lock Haven, PA he was a son of the late Glen and Irene Wolfe Lamey. Cornel was a computer programmer/analyst with NYSEG prior to his retirement in 2006. At one time he was a Boy Scout Leader, he made remote controlled model airplanes and enjoyed camping, bowling and golfing.  He enjoyed watching his grandkids play sports and spending time with his family playing cards and board games.  Cornel was a member, and President and Treasurer, of the Gideon’s International Ithaca Camp and formerly with Cortland Camp.

Cornel is survived by his wife, Rosalie V. Lamey; his children, Timothy Lamey (Janna), Richard Smith (Shannon), Randy Smith and Shannon Landers (Donald); grandchildren, Andrew Smith (Charissa), Michael Smith, David Smith, Caleb Smith, Piper Landers, Dominick Landers, Nathaniel Smith, Payton Landers, Liagrace Smith, Isaac Smith and Alexa Lamey; two great grandchildren, Olivia Smith and Isabella Smith; brother, Keith Lamey (Amber); sister in law, Marylee Lamey and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Kim Lamey and nephew, William Lamey.

Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Friday, November 11, 2022 at Peruville New Testament Church with Pastor John Iler officiating. There will be calling hours from 1:30-2:30 pm prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Gideon’s International.
