Daren Wayne ("Coon Dog") Burnette

Daren W. Burnette, age 71 of Truxton, NY; known to many as “Coon Dog,” passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Syracuse VA Medical Center.

Born February 21, 1950 in Syracuse, NY he was the son of the late Jay and Ruth Henderson Burnette. He held various truck driving jobs and enjoyed gardening and the outdoors.

Daren had three daughters, Elizabeth MacTavish, husband, Colin MacTavish of Antwerp, NY, Samantha Burnette, husband, Andrew Reynolds of Erieville, NY and Melinda Burnette, partner, Dan Dove of Truxton, NY; three grandchildren, Anna, Fyn and David who were the pride and joy of his life; two sisters, Cindy Cooper, husband, Pete Cooper and Robin Burnette of Michigan; two brothers, Doug Burnette of NC and Ronnie Burnette of Homer, NY; nieces and nephews. In addition, he was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Burnette.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life on July 10th at 5640 Cheingo Solon Pond Road, Cincinnatus NY 13040.  Anyone is welcome to come by and pay their respects to us and our Father between 1pm and 1:30 pm followed by a few words spoken by Dan Dove till 2pm. Afterwards we will be doing our dad's favorite cook off of chili dogs, salads and salt potatoes.
