DAVID P. CLARK,
age 51, of Dryden, NY passed away Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005 in Greenville, TN while traveling to Arizona. David was born May 5, 1954 in Cortland, a son of Richard J. Clark of Dryden and the late Carolyn Burch Clark. He was a life resident of Dryden and was graduated from Dryden High School in 1972 and was captain of his high school basketball team. He was graduated from SUNY Farmingdale with an Associates Degree in Air Traffic Control. While there David developed an interest in mortuary science which lead him to study at Simmons School of Mortuary Science graduating in 1976 and becoming a NYS Licensed Funeral Director. Later he earned his Registered Nurse License from TC-3, graduating in 1987. He was employed at Cayuga Medical Center as an ER Nurse and later worked in the dialysis unit before being employed at Ithaca Orthopedic Associates. Dave often assisted in Operating Room procedures. Also, Dave earned his private pilot’s license and was an AEMT III and spent many years working on local ambulances including Bangs Ambulance Service. David was a member of the Neptune Hose Co. No. 1 of Dryden, Inc., and was one of the first members of the Dryden Ambulance where for a time he was an Assistant Ambulance Captain. He was a member Dryden Lodge #472 F.&A.M. For many years he was associated with his father and brothers in the family business, Clark’s Dryden Food Market and at one time was employed at Bishop’s Home Centers. A very talented, generous, compassionate and interesting person, he enjoyed helping others. Dave had a wide circle of friends and professional associates who will miss him.
Survivors include his son, Chadd D. Clark of Dryden; daughters, Lyndsey Y. Clark and Cassie L. Clark both of Cortland; his father, Richard J. "Dick" Clark of Dryden, his brothers, Michael (Kirsten) Clark, Thomas (Dixie) Clark of Dryden and Brian (Eva) Clark of Truxton; his former wife, Jan Wright; several aunts and uncles including a special aunt, Bette Hollern; nieces; nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Carolyn Clark.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, Nov. 16 in the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Brian Homan officiating. Burial will be private in Green Hills Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Those wishing to remember David are asked to consider a memorial in, lieu of flowers, to the David P. Clark Memorial Scholarship, c/o Dryden Central School, P.O. Box 88, Dryden, NY 13053-0088.
