David C. Hart

David C. Hart, 70 of Brooktondale, NY passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the Hospicare Residence in Ithaca.

Born February 7, 1954 in Ithaca, he was the son of the late David A. and Dorothy Knight Hart. He was a 1972 graduate of Ithaca High School and was employed as a maintenance mechanic at Cornell, for 30 years, until his retirement in 2017. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing and bowling.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, David is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cindy Nelson Hart; his two sons, Brian (Blaire) Hart and Eric (Keshama) Hart; granddaughter, Alyse Hart; grandson, Brayden Hart; brothers in law, Byron “Buzz” Nelson and Jack (Jan) Nelson; sister in law, Barbara Nelson (Rudy Abreu); many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members of the Hart, Knight and Nelson families. In addition to his parents, David is predeceased by his sister, Judy Hart Kerschner and a granddaughter, Graycen Hart.

David’s family would like the thank the staff at Hospicare for their extraordinary care during David’s final days. There are no formal services planned at this time. A Celebration of David’s Life and graveside services, in Evergreen Cemetery, Spencer, will be later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in David’s memory may be made to Hospicare, 172 E. King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850 or a charity of your choice.
