DAVID H. TOMPKINS, age 71, of Cortland passed away Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014. Born May 4, 1943 in Ithaca, he was a son of Lucille Howell Tompkins of Ithaca and the late Howard Tompkins. Dave was graduated from Newfield High School in 1962 and served in the US Navy from 1963 to 1965. Dave was employed by NYSEG as a gas fitter and had worked in Ithaca, Cortland and Plattsburgh. On July 29, 1977 he was married to Susan Van Pelt Allen. Dave enjoyed playing Pitch and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his mother, Lucille Tompkins of Ithaca; his wife, Susan Tompkins of Cortland; his children, Christopher (Heather) Tompkins of Suwanee, GA, Jacqueline Tompkins of Vestal, NY; a step-son, David (Leanne) Allen of Freeville; a brother, Richard Tompkins of Ithaca; four grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends are invited to call from 12 Noon to 1 PM, Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY where Memorial Services will be held at 1 PM, with Mr. Steve Lawrence officiating. Burial with Military Honors provided by the Dryden Veterans Memorial Home Ritual Team will be in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. All are invited to a reception immediately after the services at the Dryden Fire Station..
