Denise Ellen Whitted

Denise Ellen Whitted, age 68 of Cortland, NY passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center.

Born November 15, 1955 in Elmira, NY she was the daughter of the late Theodore Vandermark and Marjorie Brown Simms. Denise was a 1973 graduate of Dryden Central School and later received a degree in Computer Information Systems as well as taking studies in Forensic Science at TC3 where she was on the Deans list and a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She was employed at the Cargill Salt Mine for over 10 years and then at Borg Warner for over 20 years. Denise loved spending time with her many grandchildren, painting and crafting, baking and learning genealogy.

She is survived by her children, Michelle Davis, Amanda (Robert) Beyer, Ramona (Eric) McConnell, Christopher (Lauren) Vandermark, Joshua Cannon, Jenell (Dan) Arcan and Jake (Sarah) Elliott; siblings, Theodore (Susan) Vandermark II and James (Melissa) Vandermark; 23 grandchildren; nieces, Rachel (Shannon) Ward, Katerina and Tiffani Vandermark.

Family and friends are invited to call from 4-6 pm on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
