Denver A (Denny) Metzler

Denver A. “Denny” Metzler, age 85 of Harford, NY passed away Friday, December 2, 2022 at the Cayuga Medical Center of Ithaca. Denver was born March 31, 1937 in Star Lake, NY. On Sept. 28, 1957 he was married to Janet E. Washburn in Gouverneur, she passed away December 29, 2013. He was employed at the Veterinary College at Cornell University prior to retirement. Mr. and Mrs. Metzler were residents of the Town of Harford since 1968. Denver was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.

Survivors include his sister, Rhonda (Rick) Bossard of Cortland; his children, Robert (Gail) Metzler of Harford, Kim (David) Coish of Lisle, Elizabeth Hilsinger of Lansing, Denver (Tammy) Metzler, Jr. of Cortland; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Cecile and Bob Metzler; grandson, Jason Dempsey on December 23, 2015; brothers and sisters in law, Wayne and Caroline Metzler, Daryl “Buz” and Dawn Metzler.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Perkins Funeral Home assisted the family. Memorials are directed to the Harford Vol. Fire Dept., Box 7, Harford, NY 13784.
