Donel L. Jacobs

Donel L. "Don" Jacobs, age 85, of Webb Road, Cortland, NY passed away Sunday, January 08, 2017 at his home.
Born March 26, 1931 at home in Cortland, NY he was the son of the late Leon and Ila Mae Thompson Jacobs and husband of the late Joanne Twomey Jacobs and Judith Fuller Jacobs. A US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, Don had been employed with SUNY Cortland as a Senior Stationery Engineer, retiring in 1991. In his retirement he was a groundskeeper at Willow Glen Cemetery in Dryden and he enjoyed hanging out with his furry friends, Piper and Stormy. Growing up on a farm, he was an avid tractor, truck and antique car enthusiast. He especially enjoyed going out to eat breakfast and having his family and friends visit.
Don will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 26 years, Judy A. Jackson; additionally, Don is survived by his only brother and best friend , Richard "Dick" (Lucy) Jacobs of Cortland, NY; his daughter, Nancy Jacobs Blake (Jerry Kinsman) and her brother, Greg Jacobs; daughter, Lynette Jacobs (Robert Mailloux); son in law, Paul Blake; stepsons, Scott Jackson (Elaine), Matt Jackson (Susie) and Chris Jackson (Jennifer); grandchildren, Erica, Ben, Olivia, Beth, Chris, Erika, Amanda, Ainsley, Zack and Chase; great grandchildren, Jennifer, Zachary, Sawyer, Breanna, Bryttnie, Brian Jr. and Cayla; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY with Rev. John Iler officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Willow Glen Cemetery. Friends may call from 9-11 am prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
