Doris Leigh Stevens Perkins

DORIS LEIGH FOX STEVENS PERKINS, age 89, of Malloryville Road, Freeville, NY passed away Monday June 19th, 2017 at her residence. Doris was born Dec. 26, 1927 in Dryden, NY, the only child of Emmett Leigh Fox and Grace Neff Fox. A long time area resident, Doris was married on Sept. 25, 1945 to Bruce Stevens who died May 15, 1980 and later was married to DeWitt R. "Toad" Perkins who died June 6, 2004. She was employed at Smith Corona and at the Statler Hotel, Cornell University. Doris enjoyed traveling, crafts, gardening, reading and her employment at "The Statler". Doris was a very kind, understanding and loving person who will be greatly missed by a large family and countless friends.
Survivors include her children, Raymond (Patsy) Stevens of Spencer, Gary Stevens of Freeville, Glenn Stevens of Groton and Lorraine (Ray) Osborne of Cortland and an adopted daughter, Sandra (Charles) Firenze of Ithaca; a daughter-in-law, Dawn Stevens of Davenport, CA; step children, Amy Jo (Ted) Canfield of Lexington, NC and Ernest Perkins of Hudson, FL; many grand, great-grand and great great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family members including Larry (Lori) Stuart of Simpsonville, SC. In additional to her husbands, Doris was predeceased by two sons, Larry Stevens and Carl Stevens, a step-daughter, Deborah Parker and a step-son, Dave D. Perkins
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, June 24th at the First Presbyterian Church of Dryden with Rev. Jim Hicks. Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 5 to 7 PM, Friday at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main Street, Dryden.
