passed away peacefully March 2, 2013 at the age of 94, in Groton NY where she had resided since 2011.
Mrs. Chauncey was preceded in death by her husband Richard A. Chauncey ( 2008 ), her sisters Myrtle R. Barnes and Doris R. Wilbur and brother David Rumsey.
She is survived by her sister Mabel R. Hodges and brother Richard (Ruth) Rumsey, Spencer NY; her daughter Carolyn C. (John) Neuman, Ithaca NY; sons Wayne A. (Mary) Chauncey, Jamesville NY; Ronald R. (Nancy) Chauncey, Blossvale NY; Stephen R. (Sarah) Chauncey, Nanuet NY; Douglas J. (Maureen) Chauncey, Bloomfield NJ; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Mrs. Chauncey, a graduate of Cortland Normal School and SUNY Oswego was a teacher in Tioga County and Cayuga County. She enjoyed teaching children, tending her gardens, the company of friends and neighbors and she devoted herself to the care of her family. Mrs. Chauncey supported her community through local civic organizations throughout her life. In accordance with her wishes, a private family memorial is planned. .
