Dorothy Wilson,
age 80 years, of Cortland, New York passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Arrangements will be announced by the Perkins Funeral Home, Dryden, NY Dorothy was born March 19, 1929 in Cortland County, the devoted daughter of the late Roy and Eleanor Spaulding. Affectionately known as “Dottie” to her friends, she grew up in Virgil and had been a resident of Cortland for many years. Dorothy and her beloved late husband, Fred Wilson, were the owners of Wilson Antiques, where Dorothy specialized in the acquisition and restoration of antique dolls. Dorothy was also a former director of the Groton Head Start program, and a devoted mother to her own children and grandchildren, as well as to over two dozen foster babies prior to their adoption.
Survivors include daughters: Terre (Robert) Slater, of Syracuse, NY and Cheryl (Al) Cryder of Wilmington, NC; her sons: Guy (Teresa) Wilson of Marathon, NY and James (Tamora) Wilson of Waverly, NY; her ten grandchildren (Trevor(Beth) Slater, Justin Slater, Ginger (Shawn) Williams, Kevin Leonard, Daniel Wilson, Robert Wilson, Heather Wilson, Jason (Sherri)Cryder, Jillian (Allen) Moore, Neal Cryder); and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, December 27, 2009 at the Perkins Funeral Home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
