EDMUND V. HOLLENBECK, age 70, of 2213 N. Triphammer Road, Ithaca, NY died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005 at The Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca. Ed was born July 7, 1934 at Dryden, NY a son of the late Everett and Louella VanOrder Hollenbeck. He was graduated from Ithaca High School in 1953 and from Cornell University in 1959. Ed served in the US Army and was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant. On May 15, 1954 he was married to the former Lorraine Carpenter at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Ed was employed for many years at Cornell University in data processing positions and retired from United Engineers in Owego where he was the First Vice President in charge of Data Processing. Mr. Hollenbeck was a member and Past Master of Fidelity Lodge #51, F.& A.M., a member and past officer in the Royal Arch Masons. Ed also was a member of the Balbec Grotto in Ithaca, Cashmere Grotto in Elmira and Keder Kahn Grotto in Syracuse. He was a Past President and Secretary Emeritus of the Empire State Grotto Association. He was appointed as the Grand Representative to the Grand Lodge of Alabama and was a member and Past President of the Ithaca Masonic Temple Corporation. One of his fun activities was clowning with the Grotto at parades, Veterans Homes and Nursing Homes. A cheerful, jovial and outgoing man, Ed will always be remembered for his devotion to his family and masonic endeavors. Once you met Ed you soon felt you had always known him and you always wanted to.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Lorraine A. Hollenbeck at home, his daughter, Judith H. Weimer of Ithaca; his sons, Brent A. Hollenbeck of Ithaca and Jeff C. (Honey) of Newfield; a brother, Charles G. (Mary) Hollenbeck of Enumclaw, WA; grandchildren, Zackary, Christina, Myranda; nieces; nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Wallace and John.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Monday. Feb. 21, 2005 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Austin officiating. Burial, delayed until spring, will be in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 2 to 5 PM Sunday and from 12 to 2 PM Monday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Members of Fidelity Lodge will conduct services at 4:45 PM Sunday. Memorials are graciously directed to the American Diabetes Association, 356 N. Midler Ave., Syracuse, NY 13206.
