EDWARD FRANK BRIND, age 84, of Rt. 79, Richford, NY passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018 at home after a brief illness. “Ed” was born February 20, 1934 in Lansing a son of the late Frank and Hazel Moravia Brind. His family has lived in Richford since Ed was 2 years. He attended Elementary School in Richford and was graduated from Newark Valley High School in 1953. On July 17, 1954 he was married to the former Dora Fox who survives. Ed was an accomplished baseball and football athlete in high school and was awarded a scholarship to attend Bloomsburg State. After starting college his desire to become a carpenter won out and he returned home to work for 40 years at Cornell University in the Carpenter Shop. Ed had worked there for two summers prior to graduating from high school. For many years he played baseball on the Richford Town Team and the Cayuga Rock Salt Team. Ed also enjoyed golf, fishing, deer hunting and working in his home shop. His family thanks Lourdes’s Hospice for the assistance during his last days.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Dora, at home; his daughter, Vicki Leigh of Richford; a son, Scott (Heidi) Brind of Berkshire; grandchildren, Steven Armstrong, Amanda (Aaron) Debolt, Ashley (Frank) Lavore, Devon Cardone and Lily, Laney and Layla Brind; a son-in-law, David Kuchinski; ten great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter, Terri Kuchinski; sisters, Ruby Marshall Dubay, and Elizabeth Head.
Memorial services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. James Willard officiating. Burial will be private. Friends are invited to call from 10 AM to Noon, Saturday at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main Street, Dryden, NY. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, are directed to the Town of Richford Rawley Park Fund, Richford, NY 13835.
