Edward Leslie Brown

EDWARD LESLIE BROWN, age 88, formerly of Cortland, NY passed away Monday, Nov. 28, 2016 at the NYS Home for Veterans in Oxford, NY. "Ed" or "Bud" was born June 5, 1928 in Groton a son of the late Stanley and Rose Nichols Brown. He was graduated from Groton High School in 1947 and on July 5, 1952 was married to the former Audrey Beebe in Groton. While serving in the US Navy he was an Aircraft Mechanic on Aircraft Carriers Midway and Roosevelt and later served as a Flight Engineer while based at Patuxent, River Naval Air Station. Returning home Ed was employed at Smith Corona as a machinist. He was a member of the New Testament Church, Cortland City Post 481, American Legion and the Leonard T. Spaulding Post 1134, American Legion. Ed enjoyed gardening, running, water sports and serving the Lord.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Audrey; his daughters, Linda (Allen) Edgecomb of Cortland, Sharon (Jepson) Ordway of Freeville and Dr. Cheryl (Ralph/ "Dick") Reygers of Freeville; grandchildren, James (Allison) and Sarah Edgecomb, Melanie (Brett ) Simeone, Garrett, Audrey Kate and Brian Ordway, Danielle, Andrew, Robert (LeighAnn), Jeffrey and Nicholas Reygers and Lisa (Daniel) Ross; seven great-grandchildren. Bud was predeceased by his siblings, Nancy Dyer, Lawrence and Stanley "Joe" Brown.
Memorial services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 at the New Testament Church of Peruville with Pastor John Iler officiating. Friends are invited to call at the church from 10 to 11 AM Friday. Interment will follow in Groton Rural Cemetery. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, are directed to the New Testament Church Bible Fund.
