Edward C. Monroe

Edward C. Monroe, age 87 of Brooktondale, NY passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 24, 2025 at home.

Born June 23, 1937 at home in Slaterville, he was the son of the late Charles E. Monroe and Leah Emery Monroe. He attended Ithaca High School and at 17 years old entered the US Marine Corp. In 1975 he met Martha P. “Marty” Hewes, a waitress at Woolworths, and after a three week courtship, they were married at the Friends Meeting House in Poplar Ridge, NY. Ed was an auto mechanic with NYS DOT and then he opened his own registered repair shop where he was still helping people until very recently. He was a member of the Candor American Legion.

Ed is survived by his five children, son, Charles A. Monroe (Elisa) of Spencer, NY; son, Edward Monroe (Edwina); daughter, Donna Monroe Duffy; son, Kevin Monroe; son, Dickie Monroe (Carolyn); grandchildren, Lily, Alicia, Adam, Georgia, Kevin Jr., Tiffany, Dylan, Daniel and David; many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marty and his sister, Violet Shepardson.

Services and burial in Charles Mulks Cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family.
