EDWARD PARK
, 83, of NYS Rt. 215, Cortland, (Town of Virgil) died Monday, March 7, 2005 at his residence. Ed was born June 24, 1921 at Virgil, NY a son of the late Ralph and Jean Gilkerson Park. He was a life resident of Virgil, having been born in the same residence where his death occurred. Ed served his country honorably in the US Army from 1940 to 1945 and was involved in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war he worked at Brewer Titchnor Co., owned a trucking company and later was employed at the NYS DOT in Cortland. He was a life member of the Virgil Fire Department. He was a member of the Burns-McCauliffe Post 0465, American Legion and the Cortland Post 2354, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Ed was a good neighbor who enjoyed fixing things and helping others but most of all he loved his family.
Survivors include his brother, John "Jack" Park of Ithaca, his sister-in-law, Marie Park of Dryden; nieces, Laura Park, Linda VanBerkom, Lenora Norton, Jaclyn Park; several grand nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Harold L. Park who died April 28, 1969.
Funeral services will be at 2 PM Friday, March 11, 2005 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Janet Lee officiating. Burial, delayed until Spring will be in Virgil Rural Cemetery, Virgil, NY. Fiends are invited to call from 1 to 2 PM Friday at the funeral home. Friends may make memorials to the Virgil Fire Dept. 1195 West State Rd., Cortland, NY 13045.
