ELEANOR B. COURTNEY, age 80, of 5 Portzline Drive, Dryden, NY died Saturday, June 17th, 2006 at her residence. Mrs. Courtney was

born in Philadelphia, PA on September 16, 1925 a daughter of the late Harold and Ellen Burgess Schofield. Her husband, John Joseph Courtney, died May 12, 2003. Eleanor was graduated from High School in 1943 and from Drexel University in 1947. She taught elementary school in Trenton and Burlington, NJ and later taught High School English at Padua Academy in Wilmington, DE. After relocating to Homer, NY and later to Dryden, NY she was employed at George Junior Republic as a teacher, house parent and security person. She was an avid reader and enjoyed ceramics and doll houses.

Survivors include her daughters, Karen (Anthony) Ricciardelli of Crosswicks, NJ, Carol Jeanne (Daniel) Moran of Fredericksburg, VA and Josephine (Gary Lee) Flomerfelt of Dryden; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Michael Patrick Courtney, who died in 1971 and her sister, Mary Rood who died in 1996.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at the Perkins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer. Friends are invited to call from 7 to 9 PM Monday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Friends who desire to remember Eleanor are asked to consider a memorial to the Dryden Kitchen Cupboard, P.O. Box 42, Dryden, NY 13053-0042 or Dryden Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 397, Dryden, NY 13053-0397.
