Eleanor Rose Hammond

ELEANOR ROSE HAMMOND, age 77, of Pleasant Street, Dryden, NY passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca. Eleanor was born August 16, 1939 in Cortland, NY a daughter of the late Leo and Marjorie Hopkins Jacques. She was graduated from Cortland High School in 1956 and attended Cortland Business School. She began her employment as a secretary at Borg Warner and Penney's for a few years prior to raising her family. Later she became employed at George Junior Republic. On July 4, 1957 she was married to Leonard "Doc" Hammond who survives. She was a communicant of Holy Cross Church. Her life was family, home and church. Eleanor will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her husband, Leonard at home; her children, Merilynn Ann (Anthony) Avallone of Rochester, NY, Steven Leonard Hammond of Cortland, Roger Alan Hammond of Dunedin, FL, Daniel Mark Hammond of Dryden and Rebecca Jane Tiikkala of Dunedin, FL; A brother, David (Carole) Jacques of Homer, NY; six grandchildren, Emily, Addison, Kaylie, Marli, Jacob and Nathan; nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Holy Cross Church, 375 George Road, Freeville, NY. Friends are invited to call from 12 Noon to 3 PM, Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main Street, Dryden, NY and on Saturday from 10 to 11AM prior to the Mass. Burial, in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer will be delayed. Memorials are directed to Holy Cross Church, 375 George Rd., Freeville, NY 13068
