Eleanor M. R. Marion

ELEANOR MAY ROOD MARION, age 92, formerly of Pratt Street, Dryden, NY passed away peacefully, Friday, June 8th at her home in Ellenton, FL after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Marion was born May 19, 1920 in Preble, NY, a daughter of the late Clarence and Nellie Smith Rood. A 1938 graduate of Cincinnatus High School, Eleanor was married on Dec. 6, 1941, to Ivan W. Marion at their apartment in Cortland, NY. Eleanor was a member of both The First Presbyterian Church of Dryden and Bradenton, FL. She also enjoyed a membership in the National Audubon Society. Employed years ago in the Dryden School Cafeteria, Eleanor was also a receptionist at the George Junior Republic in Freeville, NY. Mr. and Mrs. Marion had spent winters in Ellenton since 1986 and became Florida residents in 1992 after having lived in Dryden, NY for 43 years.In addition to her husband of 70 years, she is survived by a son, James (Cheryl) Marion of Grahamsville, NY and a daughter, Connie Rejman of Venice, NY; a brother, Robert (Martha) Rood of Norwich, NY and her sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Rood (Willis) Marion of Freeville and Phyllis Rood (Sam) Heller of Harford; grandchildren, Christina Marion, Renee (Lejon) Viningre and Justin Rejman; a great- grandson, Nathaniel Viningre; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Clarence “Gil” Rejman; two sisters; four brothers and one sister-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. David C. Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 12 to 2 PM, Thursday, at the funeral home, 55 West Main Street, Dryden.
