Eleanor Dora Sickles

ELEANOR DORA "Toodles" SICKLES, age 76, of Rt. 38, Richford, NY, died Monday, August 1, 2005 at the Cortland Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Eleanor was born October 4, 1928 in Detroit, MI a daughter of the late Joseph and Sadie Westfall Myott. Due to her father’s death when she was very young her mother married Claude Whitmarsh of Newark Valley where she was raised and educated. She was employed for many years as a cook in local restaurants. She enjoyed her family, cross word puzzles and bingo, Eleanor will be missed by many friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Darrel Sickles.

Survivors include her long time companion, John L. Haines of Richford; her children, Judith L. (Donald) Griest of Cincinnatus, Patricia A. (Michael) Bush of Homer, Dana J. (Linda) Fiene of New Port Richey, FL, Alan C. Sickles of Norwich, Dawn E. (Steve McCracken) Sickles of Homer and Darrel R. Sickles of Bakersfield, CA; her brothers, John J. and Donald E. (Clara) Whitmarsh of Newark Valley; a son-in-law, Howard Letts of McGraw; twenty-eight grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson; nieces and nephews. Eleanor was predeceased by her parents; her step-father; a brother, Joseph Myott; a sister, Agnes Z. Petzold and a daughter, Susan M. Sickles-Letts.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Thursday, August 4, 2005 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. James Sweeney of the Richford Congregational Church officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Richford. Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Those wishing to remember Eleanor are asked to consider a memorial to the Berkshire Ambulance Fund, Berkshire, NY.
