ELIZABETH J. OLTZ, age 91, formerly of Danby Road, Ithaca passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the Schuyler Hospital after an extended illness. "Betty? was born July 19, 1923 in Ithaca a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Butyani Pachai. She was graduated from Immaculate Conception School in the class of 1938. Her husband, Leon A. Oltz died May 25, 1998. Together they operated the Leon A. Oltz Funeral Home in Ithaca. A member of the Danby Federated Church, she was also active with the Danby Food Pantry.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Frances and Don Enders of Newfield, Janet and Howard Miller of Encinatis, CA, Loxie Hill of Willseyville, Beth and Scott Wilcox of Lansing; sons, Vernon and Jane Underwood of Fort Myers, FL, Hollis Oltz of Danby and Melford and Peg Oltz of Lodi; 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and another on the way; additionally, she is survived by sisters, Irene and Niles English of Trumansburg and Jeannette Phillips of FL. She was predeceased by a son, Fred. Betty enjoyed visiting Wegmans, to drink coffee, and visit with the regulars. She loved to tell stories about her granddaughter, Morgan.
Funeral services will be held at 3 pm, Sunday, September, 21, 2014, at Danby Federated Church with Pastor Ed Enstine officiating. Friends are invited to call from 1 ? 3 pm prior to the service at the church. Committal services and burial will take place at 10 am, Monday, September 22, 2014 at Lake View Cemetery, Ithaca. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Danby Food Pantry, c/o Joan Barber, 1859 Danby Road, Ithaca, NY 14850. Perkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
