ELIZABETH M. "Betty" ROOT,
age 72 of N. Franklin St., Cortland, NY died Saturday, June 25, 2005 at the Cortland Memorial Hospital. Betty was born Feb. 11, 1933 at Cortland and was a life resident. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Root, Sr. Betty was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Cortland Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include her sisters, Shirley Avery and Charlotte Weaver both of Candor, Mary Avery of Willseyville and Ruth Hatch of Spencer; a son Bill Brown, a daughter, Peg Brown; a step-son, Paul Root, Jr; grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Dixie Joanne Wright; her brothers, David and James Avery and a sister, Alice Middleton.
A memorial service will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, July 6 in the Catatonk Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Halsey Valley Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY.
