Elmer Goehner

ELMER GOEHNER, age 83, of 133 Lake Road, Dryden, NY passed away Wednesday. October 29, 2009 at home surrounded by loving family members. Mr. Goehner was born in Spencer, NY a son of the late Albert and Ida Steenberg Goehner. On July 7, 1943 he was married to the former Cecil Stevens who passed away Dec. 10, 2008. Elmer resided in Dryden for most of his life and was a self-employed carpenter and developer who built and remodeled homes and apartments. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and brother.

Survivors include his sons, Jerry Goehner of Whitehall, WI and Max (Bonnie) Goehner of Dryden; his daughter, Judy Tynyk of Newfield, NY; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; sixteen great great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Goehner of Ithaca; nieces, nephews, cousins and his dog, Sam. He was predeceased by a son, Leslie Goehner; a grandson, Michael Goehner; a great great-grandson, August Prosser and a brother Robert Goehner.

A celebration of Elmer’s life will be held at 4 PM, Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Kinney officiating. His family will be present to receive their friends from 2 to 4 PM Sunday, at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Friends wishing to remember Mr. Goehner are asked to consider a memorial to Hospicare, 172 East King Road, Ithaca, NY 14850 or a charity of their own choice.
