Elton Merrill Nielsen

Elton Merrill Nielsen, age 97 of Ithaca, NY passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Beechtree Care Center, Ithaca, NY.

Born January 17, 1925 in Syracuse, NY he was the son of the late William A. and Marguerite Crowder Nielsen and husband of the late Alice L. Nielsen who died July 4, 2014.  Elton was a US Navy veteran of WW II. He had been employed as a construction laborer in Florida and an auto body painter.

Elton is survived by two sons, Richard (Irene) Nielsen of Ithaca, NY and Robert (Louise) Nielsen of Ohio; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughters, Marguerite Nielsen and Sandy Raulson; son, Larry Nielsen; twin sister, Eleanor Nielsen Armstrong and brothers, Albert and Robert Nielsen.

Friends may call from 12-1 pm Friday, March 25, 2022 at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY.  Military honors will be held at 1 pm. Burial will be later in the spring in Asbury Cemetery, Lansing, NY.
