Emma C. Canfield, age 86, of Groton, NY formerly of Harford Mills, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Groton Nursing Facility. Born December 10, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Susan Kardos Bevis and wife of the late Ralph Canfield who died in 2011. She loved being surrounded by her family and doing needlework. Mrs. Canfield is survived by her children, Ralph H. (Pat) Canfield, Jr. of Marathon, Thomas A. Canfield of Newark Valley, Gary S. Canfield of Harford Mills, and Emma (Fred) Walker of McGraw; daughter in law, Susan Canfield of Cortland; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; brothers in law, Claude Canfield, Jr. and Charles (Doris) Canfield; sister in law, Evelyn "Betty" Fritts. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by siblings, Louise Canfield, Ellene Drake, Joseph, William, Frank and Ernest Bevis. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2014 at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden with Pastor Sharon Newman officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Richford. Friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
